Reflections from the Board Retreat (August 25th 2010)
This past weekend, the CRYS Support Team (CST) took a retreat in the cooler weather of Flagstaff, AZ. It was beautiful. We had many blessed opportunities, including receiving a blessing from Bishop Olmstead.
One of the goals of the retreat was to see how we can be more effective as a ministry. We brought with us the writings of the late Pope John Paul II and commentary on his writings.
In the first part of the retreat, we really took a look at our ministry and boiled the needs of the ministry down to three talking points:
- Are our community members feeling "known" and "connected"?
- Are we challenging our community members to take on the responsibility of the faith that is entrusted to us? Are we doing this while meeting our community members where they are at?
- Are we relevant to the needs of Catholic young adults today?
We did a lot of exploring on these talking points, and I have to say that I am truly excited about where God is leading us.
Please keep us in prayer as we discern the best way to allow God to work with and through this ministry.
God Bless! - Theo Tigno
